I am certain that many of you are familiar with the Keanu Reeves’ film entitled, “The Matrix Revolutions”; which was supposedly the final part within “The Matrix” trilogy. I happen to be quite familiar with it, and I shall make it the focal topic of our discussion this week.

This third part within “The Matrix” trilogy contained some rather surprising and almost unbearable aspects which were difficult for me to witness. I loved this film franchise so much, and was so very proud of my Muse, Keanu Reeves, for landing such a breakthrough role as “Neo” (aka “The One”). But, “The Matrix” and “The Matrix Reloaded” are my absolute favorites within the Wachowski’s successful film enterprise. And of course, Keanu always looked dashingly attractive in his portrayal of this admirable hero-archetype character.

Storyline: “Neo discovers that somehow he is able to use his powers in the real world too and that his mind can be freed from his body, as a result of which he finds himself trapped on a train station between the Matrix and the Real World. Meanwhile, Zion is preparing for the oncoming war with the machines with very little chances of survival. Neo’s associates set out to free him from The Merovingian since it’s believed that he is the One who will end the war between humans and the machines. What they do not know is that there is a threat from a third party, someone who has plans to destroy both the worlds.” Written by Soumitra at imdb.com

Within “The Matrix Revolutions”, there were quite a few obstacles and gruesome battles; to say the least. And the irritating (bad guy we love to hate), “Agent Smith”, became one of the worst enemies which “Neo” could have ever made since attempting to destroy him at the end of “The Matrix”. From “Agent Smith’s” perspective, “Neo” set him free. Nonetheless, this perspective was warped, in that he was consumed with hating “Neo”, and intent upon destroying him.

“No less than the rankest demagogue, The Matrix Revolutions insists on the primacy of faith over knowledge. Once it locks and loads, however, the triumphant visuals short-circuit anything resembling abstract thought.” Written by J. Hoberman of the Village Voice

The ending of “The Matrix Revolutions” left me in a bit of mourning malaise, I freely admit. Why did they kill off my “Neo”? And how dared they do that? These are questions which I could not help, but ask. I felt that it was such a dramatic and tragic ending to “The One’s” journey that I even told Keanu that I could not understand the Wachowski’s decision to kill off such a beloved and heroic character. Now, being a writer myself, I must respect their creative choices, but I could not have written the ending that way.

Another highly disappointing facet is that there is going to be a “Matrix” reboot, but not starring Keanu Reeves. I don’t know about the original fans of “The Matrix“, but I cannot even imagine anyone replacing Keanu in the role of “Neo” (aka “The One“). I don’t care how attractive or how hot a gentleman thinks or imagines himself to be, no one can replace Keanu Reeves in this role, in my astute opinion. I wish that I could have delivered better news to his loyal fans, but I cannot; unfortunately.

Yet, no matter how it ends, “The Matrix Revolutions” was an engaging and compelling film to watch. So, for any of you who may not have yet, please feel free to watch it.
