Kenneth Branagh’s film version of William Shakespeare’s comedic play, “Much Ado About Nothing”, is vastly entertaining to watch because it is cast with acclaimed celebrities such as Keanu Reeves, Denzel Washington, Kenneth Branagh, and Emma Thompson, etc. I must say that it was brilliantly adapted for the big screen. And Keanu Reeves was quite convincing as the sinister, “Don John”, in my opinion.

Storyline: ‘Young lovers Hero and Claudio are to be married in one week. To pass the time, they conspire with Don Pedro to set a “lover’s trap” for Benedick, an arrogant confirmed bachelor, and Beatrice, his favorite sparring partner. Meanwhile, the evil Don John conspires to break up the wedding by accusing Hero of infidelity. In the end, though, it all turns out to be “much ado about nothing.”’ Written by Liza Esser <>

Kenneth Branagh has been known for not being biased and with devising interesting twists in his films. In “Much Ado About Nothing”, he casts the dynamic Denzel Washington as “Don Pedro” (the Prince of Aragon), and the dazzling Keanu Reeves as his half brother, the villainous and scheming misanthrope, “Don John”, (as I referred to earlier). In a perfect world, or utopian society, both Keanu Reeves and Denzel Washington would be astonishingly attractive brothers. Why, just look at the photograph above to see what I mean.

“Continuously enjoyable from its action-thrilled opening to the dazzling final shot…” Written by Todd McCarthy of Variety located at:

Overall, I would definitively recommend this film to anyone interested in viewing one of the late great William Shakespeare’s masterful works on the big screen. And I cannot say enough of how well Keanu Reeves portrayed the most hated “Don John” character. What is amazing is that Keanu was so scintillatingly attractive in this film that it was difficult, as a lady, not to feel the desire to convert his “Don Pedro” from a fiendish schemer to a reformed gentleman (for an amiable lady’s own goodly purposes, of course).
